I grew up in Addis Ababa.
It’s a city I’ve carried with me long after leaving it. The streets, the taxis, the sounds, the people, and the little details that made everyday life feel like home.
With Volume I, I wanted to look back at those memories, but also look deeper. To understand the making of Addis Ababa: how the city grew, the people and leaders who shaped it, the ideas that influenced it, and the history that lives beneath the streets I grew up around.
This collection is my way of bringing those two perspectives together, the Addis I remember and the Addis I’m still discovering.
Taking the things I saw every day and reimagining them through my own lens, turning memories, objects, and pieces of the city into something contemporary, wearable, and distinctly barbet.
Volume I: Addis Ababa.
A look back at where I come from, and a new way of seeing it.
